Delegation of Adygs living abroad approves preparation of Sochi Olympics

Foreign delegates-Adygs, who visited on October 16 the Olympic facilities in Sochi, noted a positive impact of the prepared Games on the region. On the same day they met the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak.

The ethnic community treated as "Adygs" includes Circassians, Adyghes, Kabardians and Shapsugs; these nationals in the territory of Russia live mostly in Adygea, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia and KrasnodarTerritory.

The delegation includes activists of Circassian public organizations named "Adyge-Khase" from Syria, Turkey, Germany, United States, Jordan and United Arab Emirates.

Many of the members of the delegation have expressed their support for the Games in Sochi. Thus, Iskhak Akram, the chairman of "Adyge-Khase" of Syria, said: "We support this idea and emphasize once again that Syrian Adygs wish the Russian leadership to organize the Olympic Games at the highest level possible."

During the discussion, Dmitry Kozak, has promised that the Adyg component will be most broadly represented in the cultural programme of the Olympic Games.
