In Rostov-on-Don, first public court session on the case against journalist, accused of false denunciation, scheduled for July 23

Today, in Rostov-on-Don, the preliminary court session was held on the case against Sergey Reznik, a journalist, blogger and political scientist, accused of false denunciation, commercial bribery and insulting a representative of authority. The court session was held behind closed doors. Olga Shinkareva, Judge of the Pervomaisky District Court of Rostov-on-Don, scheduled the first public court session for July 23.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported in last November, it became known that Sergey Reznik, the journalist from Rostov-on-Don, who had claimed receiving threats, became a suspect in the case of false denunciation. The very defendant associates his criminal prosecution with his journalistic activities.

The today's preliminary court session was attended by colleagues of Sergey Reznik, who came to support him and who asked the court to permit video record of the court sessions. The defendant told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that it was decided that it would be possible only when the public court session would be held.

According to the journalist's story, at the preliminary court session, he and his advocates filed a motion to exclude from the case several prosecutors' evidences in the case that the defence treat as unlawful. The motion will be considered during the court proceedings, when the prosecutors will be proving the guilt of Sergey Reznik.
