On April 6, Vladikavkaz hosted a protest demanding the closure the metallurgical factory named the Open-Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "Electrozink". The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that about 30 people gathered in Victory Square.

The picket was sanctioned by the authorities. Participants of the rally were carrying posters: "Putin, stop genocide of Ossetia!", "Putin, close UMMC!", "Electrozink is Ossetia's torture".

The Public Chamber has developed its recommendations; now, the government and the country's president should make their decisions, Atsamaz Khadikov explained why the posters were addressed to the president.

"The presidential administration and the government should understand themselves that they need to address the issues of public health and the environment," Atsamaz Khadikov, a sanitary doctor and one of the picketers, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
