Residents of Tskhinvali played themselves in action film about war in South Ossetia

In North Ossetia, episodes of the new Russian action film about the military conflict between Russia and Georgia, which took place in 2008 in South Ossetia, were shot. Residents of the city of Tskhinvali took part in the shootings.

The new film is called "August. Of 2008". It is expected that its premiere will be conducted in early 2012. The screenplay of the film was written by Michael Lerner, a Hollywood screenplay writer and war correspondent of the publication "Newsweek Magazine".

Djanik Faiziev, a Russian film director, said that he decided to take up shootings, when he heard what had happened to a local resident woman during the war. "I inspired by the story of a young woman looking for her son. I was interested in it, since the story happened during the war, which passed recently," the "InoTV" quotes the film director as saying.

"I’ve got a lot of impressions from the shootings. And I have an idea to make a film by myself about the events in South Ossetia. However, the film about the war cannot be shot following a hot scent: I was too aggressive then, immediately after the events. I was told by the people that I should breathe a little..." the IA "OSinform" quotes an actor's speech.

Several feature films and documentaries have already covered the armed conflict in South Ossetia. Thus, on 5 June Tbilisi hosted the premiere of the film "5 Days of August" by Renny Harlin, an American film director. The main characters are an American journalist, his cameraman and Georgian families, who turned out to be under fire of the war.

In January 2009, a presentation of the first Georgian film in Russian about the events in South Ossetia, named "Chronicle of the Georgian August" was held in Tbilisi. Besides, the Andrei Nekrasov's film about Russian-Georgian war "Lessons of Russian" was also shot in Georgia.
