Journalists of Armenia held an action in support of Nikol Pashinyan

Editors and journalists of several printed and online mass media of Armenia held an action of protest in Yerevan demanding from the authorities to "stop acts of violence committed in prison against Nikol Pashinyan, Editor-in-Chief of Armenian "New Times" paper" and release him immediately.

Nikol Pashinyan On November, 23, journalists and representatives of Armenian civil society appealed to their colleagues the world over calling them to raise their voice in defense of Nikol Pashinyan. A number of Armenian newspapers appeared with the slogan "Freedom for Nikol" at the front page.

In the opinion of Pashinyan's colleagues and defenders, the trial on his case passed off with a great number of law violations, in particular, "the principle of equality between the accusing and defending parties has been blatantly violated".

As it was stated in a message received by the editorial board of "Caucasian Knot": "For the last two months Pasinyan underwent four attacks. The last one took place on November, 17. Two masked people pounced on him at night when he was asleep. Without any investigation of the episode, the administration of the prison made a statement meaning that nothing of the kind had really happened and "it had just been Nicola's dream". Only after the journalist produced proofs, i.e. blood-stained bedclothes with traces of military boots, an investigation was appointed", the author of the message writes and emphasizes that "Pashinyan's life and health are in serious danger".
