Volgograd Regional Court upholds verdict to local ex-deputy convicted for paedophilia

The judicial panel of the court held a closed session to consider the cassation appeals lodged by the defence and Yuri Babkin, former teacher and deputy of the city soviet, who was convicted on charges of paedophilia to 15 years in a high security colony.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported earlier that on August 6 the Traktorozavodskoi District Court of Volgograd sentenced Babkin to 15 years of high security colony.

The above judicial panel amended the verdict of the lower instance, but the prison term remained unchanged, the press service of the regional court told the "Interfax".
