Oleg Orlov's case sent to court

As reported by the human rights defender himself, the investigation of the criminal case against Oleg Orlov, head of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", for slandering President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov is over.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 23 Oleg Orlov and his advocate Genry Reznik signed a protocol on acquaintance with the materials of the case and submitted their petition to stop the case.

Today, at the Prosecutor's Office of the Tsentralny Administrative District of Moscow, the bill of particulars was served to Oleg Orlov, the HRC "Memorial" reports.

"I've got familiarized with the materials of the criminal case - they're in three volumes; and I studied the bill of particulars in detail. From the legal point of view, the materials of the criminal case seem to me surprisingly empty. As to the bill of particulars, any person, competent in the law, will conclude that it's unsound," the "Interfax" quotes Mr Orlov as saying.

"In my opinion, everyone understands that there is a certain political order," believes Orlov.
