Rauf Arifoglu, opposition Musavat party deputy head, has been arrested

Deputy head of the opposition Musavat party Rauf Arifoglu has been arrested in Azerbaijan. The authorities consider him to be one of the organizers of the disorders in Baku that broke out just after the presidential elections of October 15.

Arifoglu is the most eminent opposition activist among those who have been arrested for the last days. The wave of repressions in Azerbaijan has been denounced by the U.S. State Department, the OSCE, by governments of European countries, and human rights organizations.
