Missing Zeinap Daurbekova released in Ingushetia

The mother of a large family Zeinap Daurbekova, who was detained by power agents on April 8, is at large. As reported by her relatives, yesterday, on April 11, employees of the FSB handed Zeinap over to local militiamen, and the latter brought her home.

Let us remind you that on April 9 Ashet Daurbekova, a resident of Plievo village, Nazran District of Ingushetia, addressed the human rights organization "Mashr" and Human Rights Centre "Memorial" with an application about kidnapping on the previous day of her daughter-in-law Zeinap, a mother of four children.

According to one of Zeinap's relatives - Adam Daurbekov, - the woman was detained by FSB agents and brought to Magas (capital of Ingushetia since 2002). As explained by the Bureau, they wanted to get her evidences about her neighbour, detained earlier and suspected of certain undisclosed crimes.

"She was asked fool questions; they tried to retrieve certain data, which she didn't and couldn't know. We think they just wanted to intimidate her; as it was clear that she could not possess the information they needed. She almost didn't know that neighbour. Finally, she was told: that's all, you're free," said Adam Daurbekov.

According to Zeinap herself, she was normally treated, nobody touched or beat her; and they were not rude. Although detention, according to her version, was made in a brute manner: after an inconsiderate search of her house, a mask was put on her head, for the woman not to see, where they took her; then she was pushed into a car and delivered to the local FSB; she was not allowed to contact her relatives.

Employees of the FSB for Ingushetia told the administration of the village of Plievo that Daurbekova was not suspected of anything; and they had no claims to her. However, when she was detained, the head of the village was not informed about the FSB's actions, although power agents are obliged to notify local governors about such actions.

After Daurbekova was abducted, her relatives went three times to the republic's FSB, but every time they were told that the woman was not there.

President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov also talked to Zeinap's family; he sympathized, but, according to her relatives, failed to take any efficient measures.

"While we were searching, we addressed the MIA, ROVD, FSB, Karabulak GOVD (City Interior Department) and OMON (Special Militia). Nobody could tell us anything. Two day after the kidnapping, our friends told us where she was. None of FSB agents has apologized. They do what they would, without any coordination and without notifying relatives. This is mere mockery. On Saturday, on the second day after detention, President told us that our relative's whereabouts was already known, and if were found that she was guilty, charges would be presented to her, otherwise she would be released," said Adam Daurbekov.

Meanwhile, according to Zeinap, within these two days her health has worsened, she lost weight; and her moral condition is poor. The woman is under strong stress, and she is very frightened.

Still, as Zeinap's relatives assert, they are not going to claim any compensation of moral or material damage from the FSB, or demand investigation of this case.

Let us note here that after kidnapping of Zeinap Daurbekova, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Ingush law enforcement bodies that indeed her relatives had addressed them, but at that moment they had no data about the kidnappers and her whereabouts.
