Medvedev suggests Magomedsalam Magomedov as Dagestan President

Today, President of Russia has brought his nominee - Magomedsalam Magomedov - in the National Assembly of Dagestan for approval to the post of the President of the republic.

Let us remind you that Magomedsalam's father - Magomedali Magomedov - was the republic's leader for about 20 years, before the incumbent President Mukhu Aliev came to power in 2006.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 19, 2009, the Presidium of the General Board of the "Edinaya Rossiya" Party approved candidates for Dagestan President. The list was submitted to Russia's President and was approved by him on December 16, 2009. Apart from Magomedsalam Magomedov, the list included the incumbent President Mukhu Aliev, vice-president of the local government Magomed Abdulaev, adviser of the Chairman of Council of Federation Magomed Magomedov and head of the local Department of Federal Exchequer Saigidgusein Magomedov.
