Moscow GUVD accepts application of Kadyrov's advocate on initiating a criminal case against Orlov

On July 20, the GUVD (City Interior Department) of Moscow accepted the application submitted by Andrei Krasnenkov, advocate of President of Chechnya, and requesting to open a criminal case against Oleg Orlov, Chairman of the HRC "Memorial".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Mr Orlov had stated earlier his readiness to litigate against President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, who was preparing, by means of his lawyer, a suit to the court and Moscow GUVD in the context of Mr Orlov's statements about Kadyrov's responsibility for the murder of human rights advocate Natalia Estemirova.

Mr Krasnenkov has stated that Mr Orlov in his public statements had openly slandered President of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov, the "Pravo.ru" reports.

According to the press service of Chechen President the point is in initiating a criminal case under Article 129 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Slander"). The application accepted, further the investigatory bodies will come into play, the "Interfax" writes.
