Adygs are against restoration of monument to Admiral Lazarev

The Congress of the International Circassian Association decided to appeal to the President of the Russian Federation and all leaders of the South Federal District against the attempts to restore the monument to Admiral Lazarev in the village of Lazarevskoye, a compact residence of one of the Adyg people ? the Shapsugi of the Black Sea.

The appeal says the decision of the Local Government Council of Sochi does not meet the principles and norms common to all mankind for Admiral Lazarev directly participated in military actions against the native Adyg population that caused their mass death.
